„First, I’d put money into shoes. No variety, just something I could wear with everything.” Diana Vreeland

„Style rises above fashion. It takes ideas and suggestions from fashion without swallowing them whole. There isn’t a stylish man or woman who would radically alter their way of dressing for the sake of fashion.” Giorgio Armani

„Start with a color. Black frames anything that’s around it. It defines line, it defines silhouette. It shows architectural form. You can add to it, take from it. The amount of black doesn’t matter, it’s the amount of other color that matters.” Geoffrey Beene

„I am against fashion that doesn’t last. I cannot accept that you throw your clothes away just because it’s spring.” Coco Chanel

„How the clothes relate to the body and how they move with the woman is what’s important. Comfort means sensuality. That’s why I love cashmere. Clothes should feel wonderful to touch.” Donna Karan

„Style is very different from fashion. Once you find something that works, keep it.” Tom Ford

„One of my mottos is „Flaunt what you’ve got left!” Cybill Shepherd

„I’m the sort of person who cuts the label on things. I hate the whole idea of a seasonal must-have. I think clothing that screams its origins to people in the street is uncomfortable in a world where lots of people don’t have lots of money.” Thomas Maier (designer Bottega Veneta)

„I’ve got a stomach, as well as a behind and I mean – well, you can’t pull it in both ways, can you? So I”ve made it a rule to pull in my stomach and let my behind look after itself.” Agatha Christie

„I don’t know if I really understand the idea of dressing for one’s age. All you need is confidence, comfort and the pleasure of dressing.” Marc Jacobs

„She knew someday she would find the exact right outfit that would make her life work. Maybe not her whole life, she thought, as she got back in bed, but at least the parts she had to dress for.” Carrie Fisher in „Postcards from the Edge”

„A woman’s dress should be like a barbed-wire fence: serving its purpose without obstructing the view.” Sophia Loren

„A new dress doesn’t get you anywhere; it’s the life you’re living in the dress, and the sort of life you had lived before, and what you will do in it later.” Diana Vreeland
