The return of the kaftan – „A 1970s classic brings fresh glamour to holiday wardrobes. The promise of holidays, of azure waters and dining al fresco can exert a powerful pull on our sense of style. This season, new versions of the kaftan have made it a panacea for (most) holiday fashion dilemmas.” In Financial Times

Lightly worn, heavily shared – “Poshmark, which processed more than 1.5 million transactions in 2013, is a leader in a growing group of secondhand retailers online, including Bib + Tuck, Vaunte, Shop Hers, Tradesy, Klury, Walk in My Closet, Twice, Threadflip and the RealReal.” In NY Times

Haute Couture Fashion Week: a combination of 21st-Century and historical antecedents – “Haute couture’s hand-sewn, loss-leading creations are often dismissed as dusty relics. But at the autumn/ winter 2014 shows, designers riffed on history to create something relevant.” In The Independent

Feet are getting bigger – “The need for better-fitting shoes comes with the news that our feet, like the rest of us, are getting bigger. The average shoe size is up about two sizes since the 1970s.” In Wall Street Journal

Who’s buying J.Crew’s new XXXS clothes? – “What’s happening at J. Crew can be difficult for Americans to grasp: as the U.S. has become a less attractive place to open stores, retail isn’t solely about their needs anymore.” In The New Yorker

Lunch with the FT: Gloria Vanderbilt interviewed by Vanessa Friedman – „The 90-year-old heiress and pioneer of designer denim breaks from her daily peanut-butter sandwich to talk about the triumphs and tragedies of an extraordinary life.” In Financial Times

What’s my name? The Curious Case of Designers Leaving Their Namesake Labels – “Sass & Bide’s Heidi Middleton and Sarah-Jane Clarke are the latest designers to divorce themselves from a fashion label that they founded, and subsequently lost control of. Why does this keep happening?” In I-D

The next Brit thing – “Edie Campbell has what it takes to be a supermodel, as her Vuitton runway strut last fall proved. Just don’t ask her to a party.” In Vanity Fair

Tavi Genvinson: from teen fashion queen to broadway star – “Bloggers like Tavi Gevinson have parlayed their brand into celebrity and collaborations with Fortune 500 companies. Why do celebrities who emulate these bloggers fare far less successfully?” In The Daily Beast
