Bianca Popp, A Minuit Marie, Adriana Nedelea, Cristina Zegrea, atelierul FeMale sunt cativa dintre designerii expozanti, care va asteapta cu tot felul de minuni si surprize, and to top it off, duminica la Serendipity, de la ora 11, este un targ de Craciun.

Not enough?

The making of a fashion’s latest It Girl – “She’s a hipster muse for Karl Lagerfeld; a regular on the pages of fashion and music magazines; and an inspiration for young bloggers…’She’s become the Kate Moss for this new generation.’” In NY Times.

Saving Valentino – „When Valentino Garavani left the building, he took with him much of what made the label legendary. Can the new designers bring the brand into the future without destroying the past?” Pe Wall Street Journal.

Needlman’s neewbie – “The New York media world will finally begin to size up a new magazine war in town: Deborah Needleman’s WSJ. Magazine vs. Sally Singer’s T: The New York Times Style Magazine.” ‘Twas about time, daca ma intrebati pe mine. In WWD.

The year of the couturiere – „Guo Pei, 43, started her business 13 years ago. Many more people are able to afford luxury products, and Beijing’s malls are packed. Still, this small woman with a bob and a tendency to finish her sentences with a giggle is an anomaly — and not because she dresses V.I.P.’s or designs one-off pieces in a country geared for mass production. What makes Guo Pei different is what she puts on a runway.” In NY Times.

Anna Sui’s new book – “Sui’s anniversary book, featuring Christy Turlington, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista, is a walk down memory lane for the boho-chic designer.” In The Telegraph.

This year, the devil’s not the only one wearing Prada –  „All four of the Prada Group’s labels have contributed to the rise [of profit]: Prada, Miu Miu, traditional British shoemaker Church’s and designer moccasin makers Car Shoe.” Pe The Independent.

All I want for Christmas is… – „Clothes, toys, books galore: our latest survey reveals Europeans’ top presents and ways to shop.” Pe Wall Street Journal.

Tommy Hilfiger dreams of limitless horizons – “‘We are really living the American dream,’ Mr. Hilfiger said, ‘to be a successful brand in the States and in Europe and to steep ourselves in our heritage. But we do it with a sense of humor. We don’t take ourselves too seriously in fashion.’” In NY Times.

The pedigree, knitted in – „Identified with skiing, Scandinavia and snowflakes in the ’50s and ’60s, the sweater has in recent years become baggier and schlumpier, more a token of the couching life than the sporting one.” In NY Times.

Yoox to open new online stores in China in 2011 – “Italian online fashion retailer Yoox is planning to bring some of the most exclusive fashion brands to China next year, tapping into the demand for luxury goods of the world’s largest online population.” Pe Reuters.

Gilt Groupe’s Men’s Site to Launch in July – “Gilt Groupe realizes that men, who approach shopping with the utmost effort to get in, get out, and get on with life rather than dig and dig for a great find to brag about later, will just as easily pay full prices as sale prices.” Pe NY Fashion.

Dropped stitches – “Fair Isle knitwear is in vogue. Fashionistas say the recession created a taste for garments that look chunkily lasting and homemade. Alas, Fair Isle jerseys are the subject of bitter wrangling—and imperilled by demography.” In The Economist.

How stores lead you to spend – „While national chains often use discounts to draw crowds, many independent specialty stores compete by broadening their whimsical appeal and learn the science of understanding trend-conscious consumers.” Pe Wall Street Journal.

Life with Natalie Joos – “Casting director Natalie Joos has been a fashion industry fixture for years, and a favorite subject of Tommy Ton and Scott Schuman. But the March 2010 launch of her blog, Tales of Endearment, has made her star shine even brighter.” Pe Fashionista.

Google sizes up market for women’s fashion – “Google has spent 12 years crushing the competition to become the world’s go-to search engine. Now it’s venturing into far less precise territory: the psyche of the female shopper.” Pe Detroit News.

A look that is worth a million hits – „Web models need to be attractive, of course, but not intimidatingly so — the better, the thinking goes, to woo shoppers who may be browsing at 3 a.m. in their slippers. Many niche apparel sites direct their models to evoke just-off-the-street charm with a touch of je ne sais quoi — in other words, be “relatable,” but not a bore.” In NY Times.

A faster trip from runway to shopping cart – “Collections of dozens of high-end design houses in New York, London, Milan and Paris will be opened up to individual shoppers, who will be able to place orders on a site called Moda Operandi, or modaoperandi.com.” Pe Wall Street Journal.

The blurring of fashion and art „For this season a new crop of young designers is using everything from trompe l’oeil to painterly brushstroke prints, bold graphic patterns and even a spot of collage, to create masterpiece-inspired dresses.” In Financial Times.
