Lectura de sambata dimineata
A trecut prima, mai urmeaza 52… de saptamani din 2011. V-ati propus sa realizati ceva concret anul asta, sau il veti trai in dorul lelii, going with the flow, whatever comes your way?
Pana va hotarati ce vreti sa faceti in weekend si in 2011, luati de citit aici…
Brightest and tightest of 2010 – „It was actually a very good year in the style world. After several years in which designers were trying hard to grab attention with overwrought gimmicks and doodads (jumpsuits, anyone?), the fashion industry appeared to do an about-face. Styles got more real—and more comfortable.” In Wall Street Journal.
French Vogue names new director – „Less than a month after Carine Roitfeld announced she would leave the editor in chief’s job at French Vogue, the magazine named Emmanuelle Alt to succeed her, starting Feb. 1.” In NY Times.
Just have less: Bottega Veneta’s Tomas Maier – “Tomas Maier, the head designer of the Italian fashion label Bottega Veneta, is one of those people who wants to erase every fault in their range of sight.” In The New Yorker.
Japanese minimalism set to reshape fashion – „Thanks to several exhibitions and the economic climate, monochrome, asymmetric and intellectual clothing is back.” In The Guardian.
Top fashion trends for 2011 – „If 2010 was all about looking like a toy soldier in a Barbie dress, 2011 will see a softer-edged look – all tutus, crimped hair, fruit motifs and floor-length skirt.” In The Guardian.
Seven stellar examples of branded content from the fashion Industry – “From online blogzines to Tumblr-powered micro sites, branded content is quickly becoming a cost effective, long-term online marketing strategy that the fashion industry will continue to utilize as brands and retailers look for new, innovative ways to connect with customers online.” Pe Mashable.
Tom Ford’s private spring 2011 show – “If there’s one man who knows how to tantalize an audience, it’s Mr Tom Ford. Because, as a New Year gift, the designer has bestowed upon us super-glossy footage of his highly-secretive, high-security showcase four months after it took place.” Pe Grazia Daily.
Fashion ties the knot – „Fashion’s most matronly accessory is experiencing a rejuvenation. Silk prints have evolved from hunting scenes to tattoo-like images. Scarves have loosened up, worn slouchy around the neck or as a bow-tie. They have moved off the neck to substitute for belts, bandanas, bracelets and even a sling for a broken arm. From the runways of John Galliano, Emilio Pucci and Yohji Yamamoto to celebrities such as Sienna Miller and Jessica Alba, the lightweight scarf is once again a wardrobe staple.” In Wall Street Journal.
eBay takes a page from the glossies – “[Andrea] Linett began a new job this week as the creative director of eBay Fashion. One of her responsibilities is to enliven the experience of online shopping at a site that often feels more like a digital flea market.” In NY Times.
Blogging from Manila to Milan – “Bryan Grey-Yambao, a 24-year-old Filipino based in Manila, began blogging from his parents’ home in Manila in 2004. He is one of the biggest names among a new, increasingly influential crop of fashion bloggers — with their own commercial contracts, front-row seats at fashion shows and multipage spreads in magazines.” In Wall Street Journal.
Is men’s wear back? – “Yes — and you can credit the recession. Behavioral experts say shopping doesn’t come naturally to most men, yet men’s wear was among the star performers this past holiday and retailers are expecting (or at least hoping) the growth will continue in 2011.” Pe WWD.
Tumblr is sending 20+ bloggers to NY Fashion Week – “Tumblr, the image-heavy platform beloved by top fashion bloggers like Tavi Gevinson and Jessica Quirk (What I Wore), is focusing more of its energy on the fashion industry. In fact, it’s sending more than 20 of its bloggers to New York Fashion Week.” Pe Fashionista.
10 fashion trends for 2011 – „It is around this time of year that Fashion Statement likes to dig out its Swarovski jewel-encrusted crystal ball, don its fringed headscarf and get down to the serious business of trend forecasting.” In The Guardian.
Shake to the beat of the 70s groove – „Fashion has elected to turn around and look backwards. The time it has in its sights is, you’ll already have heard, the Seventies. More specifically, the early Seventies and, even more specifically, 1972.” In The Telegraph.
Smells like 2010 – “It’s long been known that December sales of fragrances can make or break the entire year. Indeed, a perfume’s annual performance can be determined by purchases not only the week before Christmas, but those of the morning of the 25th.” In NY Times.
Ce parere ai despre Emmanuelle Alt? Mie mi se pare ca nu se compara cu Carine Roitfeld…
